President
Martti Ahtisaari's travel to Turkey, Kosovo and Rome
President Martti Ahtisaari will travel to
Turkey on Wednesday November 17, 1999, to participate
in OSCE-meeting in Istanbul on November 18 - 19,
1999.
President Ahtisaari's journey will continue as an
official visit in Istanbul on November 19, and in
Ankara on November 20, where he will have talks with
President Süleiman Demirel and Prime Minister
Sülent Ecevit.
On Sunday November 21, President Ahtisaari will
continue to Kosovo where he will inspect the KFOR
Finnish Peace Keeping Battalion. He will travel from
Pristina to Rome during the same evening.
On Monday November 22, President Ahtisaari will meet
President Carlo Ciampi of Italy and give a lecture on
forestry at the General Assembly of the United
Nations' Food and Agricultural Organisation.
On Tuesday November 23, President Ahtisaari will
visit the Vatican and meet Pope John Paul II.
The president will return to Finland on Tuesday
evening.
