President of the Republic Sauli Niinistö met the President of the German Bundestag, Professor Norbert Lammert, at the President’s official summer residence Kultaranta on 8 July 2014. The issues brought up during the meeting included the economic outlook for Finland and Germany, the situation in Europe and the Ukrainian crisis.
After the discussions, President Niinistö and his spouse Jenni Niinistö hosted a lunch for the Bundestag President and his spouse Gertrud Lammert.
On Monday, 7 July, Professor Lammert paid a visit to the Savonlinna Opera Festival, hosted by Speaker of the Finnish Parliament Eero Heinäluoma. During his visit to Finland, the President of the Bundestag also met Finland’s Prime Minister Alexander Stubb.
