President Niinistö met with Honorary Consuls operating in Finland

President of the Republic of Finland Niinistö met with Members of the Board of the Consular Corps at Kultaranta on Thursday, 12 August 2021. The Consular Corps consists of honorary consuls representing foreign states in Finland.

President Niinistö wished the consuls welcome and stated that honorary consuls do important work in promoting awareness of Finland. At the meeting, the honorary consuls told the President about their work as well as the history of the Consular Corps.

Honorary consuls are official representatives in Finland of the countries they represent and they take care of their tasks on a part-time basis. There are approximately 200 honorary consuls operating in Finland, representing around 100 countries.
