President of the Republic of Finland Sauli Niinistö met with the President of Iran Ebrahim Raisi on 21 September 2022 in New York in the margins of the United Nations General Assembly week.
The presidents discussed the Iran nuclear agreement (JCPOA), among other topics. President Niinistö expressed his concern over the continuing Iranian nuclear program. Russia’s war in Ukraine was also discussed.
President Niinistö stressed that it is important to thoroughly investigate the death of Mahsa Amini.
