President Niinistö met young international journalists

President of the Republic of Finland Sauli Niinistö met a group of young international journalists at the Presidential Palace on Thursday, 27 August. The President and the journalists discussed about Finnish foreign and security politics, relationship with Russia, radicalization and the situation in the Arab World. The young journalists were also interested in Finnish education system.

thisisFINLAND Foreign Correspondents’ Programme is organized by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland and it gathers 21 young journalists from different parts of the world. The participants are 21–29 years old and were selected from among 1,500 applicants. During the three-week programme, the journalists will have an opportunity to learn more about Finland, Finnish society and the Finnish way of life. The programme is part of Finland’s public diplomacy and its aim is to increase the participants’ interest in Finland and strengthen Finland’s profile in the long run. The programme has been administrated by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs since 1990.
