President Niinistö spoke to the President of the Republic of Korea Moon Jae-in

The President of the Republic Sauli Niinistö conducted a long and amicable telephone conversation with the President of the Republic of Korea Moon Jae-in on 22 April 2020.

President Niinistö congratulated President Moon on the impressive achievements of the Republic of Korea in fighting the covid-19 pandemic. President Niinistö went on to thank his Korean counterpart for the smooth cooperation between Finnish and Korean healthcare operators. President Moon assured President Niinistö that the Republic of Korea will continue to support Finland in stopping the coronavirus whenever possible. The Presidents noted that international cooperation is called for both in containing the virus and contributing to the recovery of the world economy.

The Presidents also discussed the current situation on the Korean Peninsula. President Niinistö expressed his support for President Moon in the efforts to secure peace.

The bilateral relations between Finland and Korea were found to be excellent. Hopefully, these relations can be further promoted in face-to-face meetings in the foreseeable future.
