President Niinistö spoke with the President of Iran

The President of Iran, Hassan Rouhani, called President of the Republic of Finland Sauli Niinistö on Tuesday, 2 June 2020.

In addition to the coronavirus situation, the Presidents discussed the continuation of the JCPOA nuclear deal and the need to ensure the requirements for IAEA inspection activities in Iran. President Niinistö told that Finland is about to join the INSTEX mechanism, under which trade is limited to humanitarian goods. President Niinistö stressed the importance of open access to information and dialogue. It was also seen as important to continue the contacts between Finland and Iran.
