The Federal President of Germany, Joachim Gauck, accompanied by his spouse, will pay an official visit to Finland on 5-6 July 2013. Discussions during President Gauck’s visit will include the following: bilateral relations and economic cooperation between Finland and Germany, Europe’s current situation and future, and topical international issues.
President of the Republic Sauli Niinistö and his spouse will welcome the guests to Savonlinna, where the programme will include a cruise on Lake Saimaa and a visit to the Savonlinna Opera Festival.
From Savonlinna, the presidents will continue on to Kultaranta at Naantali, where the reception ceremony and official talks will be held on Saturday 6 July. The visit will end with a lunch hosted by the City of Turku, at Turku Castle.
