On the morning of 30 June 2016, President of the Republic Sauli Niinistö had a telephone conversation with Jean-Claude Juncker, President of the European Commission. President Niinistö and President Juncker discussed the consequences of the British referendum, the implementation of the Minsk peace agreement, and Russia.
President Niinistö also held a telephone discussion with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in the afternoon. President Niinistö and Chancellor Merkel discussed issues including the consequences of the British referendum, the implementation of the Minsk peace agreement, the forthcoming NATO Summit, and Russia. The discussions were conducted on Finland’s initiative.
