President Niinistö spoke with President Putin

President of the Republic of Finland Sauli Niinistö had a long phone call with President of Russia Vladimir Putin on the morning of Monday, 28 December 2020.

In the course of the call, the Presidents exchanged the traditional New Year’s greetings, this time in the spirit of the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations.

Aside from bilateral relations, the Presidents widely addressed the coronavirus situation as well as great-power relations and arms control. The Presidents also continued their earlier discussion on Belarus, Ukraine and the Navalny case.
