President Niinistö to attend Munich Security Conference

President of the Republic Sauli Niinistö will attend the Munich Security Conference on 6–8 February 2015. This year, the theme of this annual conference is the collapse of the international order. Key topics will include the crisis in Ukraine and its implications for the European security, the situation in the Middle East and the fight against terrorism. In Munich, President Niinistö will also participate in a high-level discussion on the conflict in Ukraine and European security. The programme will also include bilateral meetings.

Arranged since 1963, the Munich Security Conference is an independent forum dedicated to promoting peaceful conflict resolution and international cooperation and dialogue in dealing with today’s and future security challenges. Over 400 foreign and security policy opinion-makers will attend the conference, including around 20 heads of state or government and 60 ministers. The participants will include German Chancellor Angela Merkel, US Secretary of State John Kerry and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
