President Niinistö to attend Nuclear Security Summit at the Hague

President of the Republic Sauli Niinistö will travel to the Hague on 23–25 March 2014 to participate in an international summit on nuclear security.

The purpose of the summit is to reinforce international cooperation to prevent nuclear terrorism. Representatives of more than 50 countries and of international organisations have been invited to attend. Confirmed attendees include Barack Obama, President of the United States; Angela Merkel, Chancellor of Germany, François Hollande, President of France; Xi Jinping, President of China; and Sergey Lavrov, Foreign Minister of Russia.

The Nuclear Security Summit is a continuation of the summits held in Washington in 2010 and in Seoul in 2012.
