President of the Republic Sauli Niinistö and his spouse Jenni Haukio will be making a state visit to Mexico on 23–27 May 2015 on the invitation of President Enrique Peña Nieto. The presidents will discuss bilateral relations between Finland and Mexico, including economic relations and cooperation within the education, innovation, energy and forestry sectors, among others. They will also discuss topical regional and international issues.
President Niinistö will also meet with Mexico’s other political leaders. A seminar on economic relations between Finland and Mexico will be arranged during the visit, and also cultural programme.
A delegation of business leaders will be joining, also including university and research institution representatives.
The previous state visit from Finland to Mexico was made by President Ahtisaari in 1999.
