The agreement on Iran’s nuclear programme achieved in Vienna today is a significant step forward in efforts to stabilise the situation throughout the Middle East. The Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action is Iran’s way of ensuring that its nuclear programme is and will remain peaceful.

The eventual lifting of sanctions means that Iran will be able to return to closer cooperation with the international community. The country’s opportunities for improving its economy and its citizens’ wellbeing will reach new levels. We also hope that Iran plays a constructive role in the Middle East in general.

The agreement is the result of enduring and persistent diplomacy. Although the negotiation process took longer than ten years, it demonstrated once again that even difficult matters can be solved through negotiation. However, there is still work to be done. It will now be important to focus on the full and rapid implementation of the agreement.
