“We are delighted to share our good news: if everything goes as expected, we will have an addition to our family in February 2018. We have been hoping for a child for a long time and have experienced many difficulties over those years. There have therefore been delicate issues related to the early days of the pregnancy, but we are able to share the news now,” President of the Republic Sauli Niinistö and Mrs Jenni Haukio comment on their announcement.
This is a private family matter and will not affect the President’s official duties.
Sauli Niinistö and Jenni Haukio got married on 3 January 2009. The child will be Haukio’s first and Niinistö’s third child.
