President Halonen to attend EU-Latin America/Caribbean Summit

President of the Republic Tarja Halonen will be in Vienna on 11-13 May 2006 for the EU-Latin America/Caribbean Summit. The summit will discuss democracy and human rights, strengthening multilateral cooperation, fighting terrorism, organized crime and environmental and energy issues.

President Halonen will also hold bilateral talks with UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan and the presidents of Lithuania, Chile and Peru during the summit.

President Halonen will travel to Austria from Romania, where she will make a state visit on 9-11 May. Minister for Foreign Trade Paula Lehtomäki will also take part in the state visit and attend the Vienna summit.
