President of the Republic Tarja Halonen and Committee Counsellor Pentti Arajärvi will make a state visit to Poland on 25 - 26 April 2001 at the invitation of President Alexander Kwasniewski and to Latvia on 9 - 10 May 2001 at the invitation of President Vaira Vike-Freiberga.
The programme for the state visit to Poland includes discussions with President Kwasniewski and Prime Minister Jerzy Buzeki as well as meetings with the Speakers of the Sejm and Senate. President Halonen will also give a lecture at the Economic University of Warsow.
In Latvia President Halonen will have bilateral discussions with both President Vike-Freiberga and Prime Minister Andris Berzins. Other items on the programme include visits to the Occupation Museum and the Turaidas Museum Reserve as well as an address by President Halonen at the University of Latvia.
