President of Austria to make state visit to Finland

The Federal President of the Republic of Austria Heinz Fischer and spouse will make a state visit to Finland on 8–9 September 2011.

The reception ceremony and official talks with President of the Republic Tarja Halonen will take place at the Presidential Palace on Thursday, 8 September. President Fischer will also visit the Finnish Parliament and lay a wreath at the Hietaniemi Cemetery.

On Friday, 9 September President Fischer will meet Prime Minister Jyrki Katainen and attend a seminar on urban development organised by VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland. President Fischer will also visit Turku, one of the European Capitals of Culture 2011, where the programme will include cultural events and visits to Turku Castle, Turku Cathedral and cultural centre Logomo.
