President of the Republic to New York for the UN Millennium Summit

President of the Republic Tarja Halonen is today going to New York for the Millennium Summit of the United Nations on 6 - 8.9. She and President Sam Nujoma of Namibia will jointly preside over the Summit. Tomorrow, 5.9, President Halonen will attend a seminar for female heads of state chaired by UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Mary Robinson.

The President will deliver Finland’s national address to the Summit on Thursday, 7.9. She returns to Finland on Sunday, 10 9.
