President of the Republic Tarja Halonen and Dr Pentti Arajärvi will make a state visit to Russia on 8–11 November 2010. President Halonen and President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev agreed on the visit last summer when President Medvedev visited Kultaranta.
Official talks between the Presidents will be held at the Kremlin. In addition to bilateral relations, the talks will include current international affairs.
The delegation of the President of the Republic will include Minister for Foreign Affairs Alexander Stubb and Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Paavo Väyrynen as well as a high level corporate delegation.
In Moscow President Halonen will also meet Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.
In addition to Moscow, President Halonen will visit to the city of Kazan in the Republic of Tatarstan. She will meet the President of Tatarstan and visit, among others, a centre for new technology and Kazan University, which is one of the oldest in Russia.
The President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev made a state visit to Finland in April 2009. President Halonen visited the summer residence of the Russian President in Sochi in August 2009 and made an official visit to Russia in June 2000.
