President Halonen to attend Brussels conference on women and security

President of the Republic Tarja Halonen will travel to Brussels on Thursday, 6 March, to attend an international conference on women's role in promoting peace and security. More than 50 female leaders from around the world, including heads of state, ministers, heads of international organizations, business leaders and civil society activists will attend the conference on "Women: Stabilizing an Insecure World". President Halonen will speak at the opening session of the conference, which is being organized by European Commissioner Benita Ferrero-Waldner.
