President Halonen at the UN Summit in New York

President of the Republic Tarja Halonen visited New York on 11-16 September 2005. President Halonen attended the UN Summit on 14-15 September. As head of Finnish delegation President Halonen addressed the meeting on 14 September. She also gave a speech in the World Leaders Forum in the University of Columbia on 12 September. The UN Summit addressed such issues as the UN Millennium Declaration, the progress made in the achievement of the Millennium Development Goals and other objectives defined by the major United Nations conferences and summits.
