President Halonen to attend the ECOSOC session in New York

President Tarja Halonen is to attend the ECOSOC high-level segment in New York on 28-30 June 2005 addressing such issues as the achievement of the millennium development goals and preparations for the autumn’s United Nations Summit. President Halonen will be giving a keynote address and chairing the Roundtable discussion on human rights and good governance.

While at the session, President Halonen will also be meeting UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, former US President Bill Clinton, who currently acts as the Secretary-Generals Special Envoy for Tsunami Recovery, Mr Jean Ping, President of the UN General Assembly, and Mr Juan Somavia, Director General of the ILO.
