President Halonen to attend EU, Latin American and Caribbean Countries summit

President of the Republic Tarja Halonen will attend the summit of European Union, Latin American and Caribbean countries in Madrid on 17-18 May 2002. Minister for Foreign Affairs Erkki Tuomioja will also attend the conference, which is being held to deliberate the development of political and economic cooperation between the regions.

President Halonen and her party will leave for Madrid in the afternoon on 16 May and return late the following evening.
