President of Indonesia on state visit in Finland

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono of Indonesia and his spouse were on a one-day state visit to Finland on 12 September 2006. President of the Republic Tarja Halonen received President Yudhoyono at the Presidential Palace, where the official reception ceremonies and the talks between the presidents were held. The Presidents Halonen and Yudhoyono discussed issues concerning economic cooperation and the peace process in Lebanon.

The meeting between the presidents also included the signing of a Treaty on promoting and protecting investments. This Treaty was signed by Minister for Foreign Trade and Development, Paula Lehtomäki, and Minister of Trade Mari Elka Pangestu. President Yudhoyono's state visit programme also included the laying of a wreath in Hietaniemi Cemetery, a meeting with Prime Minister Matti Vanhanen, a visit to the Finnish Parliament and a lecture at the Paasikivi Society.

Before the state visit President Yudhoyono attended the ASEM Summit (Asia-Europe Meeting) in Helsinki.
