President of the Republic Tarja Halonen will be in the United States from 25 to 28 April 2003 to receive an honorary doctorate from Finlandia University. President Halonen and Dr. Pentti Arajärvi will attend the conferral ceremony at the university on Sunday 27 April and she will give an address there. During their visit the presidential couple will also tour the university and meet Finns living in the area.
Finlandia University is located in Hancock, Michigan. It was founded by Finnish immigrants, originally as Suomi College, in 1896.
