President Halonen in Berlin

President of the Republic Tarja Halonen visited Berlin, where she was presented with Grameen Foundation USA's 2004 Humanitarian Award. During her stay in Berlin on 14.-15. September, President Halonen met German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder and President Horst Köhler.

Grameen Foundation USA is a global, non-profit organization dedicated to alleviating poverty through access to micro-credit. The Humanitarian Award honors a person who has significantly impacted the lives of the poor by their advocacy for social justice, human rights, poverty reduction, and gender equity.
