Your Excellency,

On behalf of the people of Finland and on my own behalf, I extend to you our sincere congratulations on your election, based on the results of the voting on 26 December 2004, as the President of Ukraine.

The elections reflected the will of the Ukrainian people and were carried out in accordance with OSCE norms and international democratic practices. Finland is ready to cooperate with Ukraine in all bilateral and other matters of common interest.

I wish you every success in carrying out the important responsiblities of your high office and I wish the people of Ukraine success in the years to come.
