President Halonen to attend women leaders summit in New York

President of the Republic Tarja Halonen will travel to New York to attend the International Women Leaders Global Security Summit on 15-17 November 2007.

The summit will be attended by current and former women presidents and ministers around the world as well as other international women leaders and women of influence, including from international organisations, research institutes and the field of culture. The three-day event will widely discuss global security issues, including climate change, terrorism and economic inequality.

President Halonen will travel to New York directly from Ireland, where she is making a state visit on 11-14 November.
