President Halonen to attend the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe

Finnish President Tarja Halonen has been invited to attend the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, France, on January 23-24, by the Assembly President, Lord Russell-Johnston.

President Halonen will address the Assembly on Wednesday, January 24. She will also have meetings with individuals, including Luzius Wildhaber, President of the European Court of Human Rights, and Alvaro Gil-Robles, Commissioner for Human Rights at the Council of Europe.
