President Halonen to travel to the United States for meetings

President of the Republic Tarja Halonen will travel to Washington D.C. and New York on 9–13 January 2012.

In Washington President Halonen will attend events celebrating the 15th anniversary of the Council of Women World Leaders (CWWL), including a working dinner and a public forum on women’s leadership. President Halonen chairs the CWWL.

From Washington President Halonen will travel to New York, where she will chair a meeting of the UN High-level Panel on Global Sustainability on 11–12 January. President Halonen co-chairs the panel together with the President of the Republic of South-Africa Jacob Zuma. The meeting will focus on finalising the final report of the panel to be submitted to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon.
