President Halonen to visit Budapest

President of the Republic Tarja Halonen will visit Budapest, Hungary on Saturday 27 June 2009 to attend a celebration marking the opening of borders and the fall of the Iron Curtain 20 years ago. During her visit, President Halonen will hold bilateral talks with President Lászlo Sólyom of Hungary.

The commemorative meeting in the Parliament Building in Budapest will also be attended by Federal President Horst Köhler of Germany and Federal President Heinz Fischer of Austria as well as by present and former ministers and other politicians.

The events that occurred twenty years ago will also be remembered this year, for example, in Poland and Germany.
