President Halonen to present Ars Fennica award in Tallinn

President of the Republic Tarja Halonen and Dr Pentti Arajärvi will travel to Tallinn on Saturday, 28 February 2009. In Tallinn President Halonen will present the Ars Fennica award. The award ceremony will place at the Art Museum of Estonia, where an exhibition of works by the Ars Fennica candidates will open on the same day.

The Ars Fennica award goes to one artist each year in recognition of distinctive artistic output of high merit. The award includes a prize of 34,000 euros. This is the 16th time it has been presented and the first time the award ceremony has been held outside Finland. This year's candidates are Maria Duncker, Tea Mäkipää and Seppo Renvall from Finland, Katrina Neiburga from Latvia and Mark Raidpere from Estonia.
