President Halonen to make official visit to Ukraine

President of the Republic Tarja Halonen and Dr Pentti Arajärvi will make an official visit to Ukraine on 12-14 May 2009.

During the visit, President Halonen will hold talks with Ukrainian President Victor Yushchenko and meet other political leaders in Ukraine. The programme will also include a closer look at Kyiv as well as cultural events.

The President of the Republic will be accompanied by Minister for Foreign Trade and Development Paavo Väyrynen and a high-level business delegation which includes representatives in a range of sectors including energy, environment, information technology and industry manufacturing machinery and equipment. During the visit, a business seminar on economic relations between Finland and Ukraine will be arranged.

President and Mrs Yushchenko made an official visit to Finland in October 2006.
