President of the Republic Tarja Halonen and Dr Pentti Arajärvi will make a state visit to Italy on 6–9 September 2010.
President Halonen will hold official talks with Italian President Giorgio Napolitano on Tuesday, 7 September. The discussion will focus on bilateral relationships as well as current European and international affairs.
During the visit President Halonen will also meet the Prime Minister of Italy, the Vice-President of the Senate of the Republic and the Mayor of the City of Rome, and will also speak at Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei, the national science academy.
On Thursday, September 9 President Halonen is scheduled to visit the cities of Lucca and Pisa, where she will meet with local authorities. She will also be introduced to the cultural scene as well as visit the Scuola Normale Superiore university in Pisa.
President Halonen will be accompanied by Minister of Culture and Sport Stefan Wallin.
