President of Portugal to make state visit to Finland

Sampaio will make a state visit to Finland on 8-11 October 2002 at the invitation of President of the Republic Tarja Halonen. The presidents will have bilateral discussions during the second day of the visit. President Sampaio will also meet Prime Minister Paavo Lipponen and the Speaker of the Eduskunta, Riitta Uosukainen. The programme further includes a lecture by President Sampaio at the Paasikivi Society and a meeting with representatives of Finnish industry. The presidential couple will visit the northern city of Oulu on the final day of their visit.
