Message of condolences from President of the Republic Tarja Halonen following the school shooting in Winnenden

President of the Republic Tarja Halonen has sent her condolences following the school shooting that took place in Winnenden, Germany on 11 March 2009. In a message addressed to Federal President Horst Köhler, she expressed her sadness over the tragic event, which claimed numerous lives and stirred painful memories among Finns. President Halonen, who is presently on an official visit to Benin, extended her deepest condolences to the victims' relatives and all those whom the tragedy has touched, on behalf of the people of Finland and for her own part.
