President Victor Yushchenko of Ukraine and his wife visited Finland on October 25-27, 2006. The official visit began on Thursday October 26, when the programme included welcoming ceremonies and bilateral talks with President of the Republic of Finland Tarja Halonen. President Yushchenko also met the Finnish Prime Minister, Mr Matti Vanhanen, and business representatives, visited the Mannerheim Museum and laid a wreath at Hietaniemi Cemetery.
On Friday October 27 President Yushchenko took part in the EU-Ukraine Summit, which was held in Helsinki. During the day he also visited the Finnish Parliament and Halosenniemi, former studio home of painter Pekka Halonen, in Tuusula.
