Message of condolences by President of the Republic Tarja Halonen to President Pervez Musharraf due to the earthquake in Pakistan

Mr. President,

It is with profound sadness that I have received the news of the loss of human lives, injuries and immense damage caused by the tragic earthquake witch occurred on 8 October, 2005 in Pakistan.

On behalf of the people of Finland and on my own behalf, I express my most sincere condolences to you, Mr. President, as well as to the families of the victims and to all those who are touched by this tragedy.

Please be assured, that Finland is already prepared to send humanitarian assistance to your country.
