Message of condolences by President of the Republic Tarja Halonen following the tsunami in Indonesia on 26 October 2010

Your Excellency,

We have received a message of great sorrow of the earthquake and the tsunami off the coast of Sumatra on Monday 25 October 2010. Untold human suffering has already been inflicted upon your country due to natural disasters, and so many Indonesians have lost their lives and livelihoods because of them.

On behalf of the people of Finland and on my own behalf, I wish to express to you my deepest condolences to you and to the people of Indonesia. Our thoughts and prayers are particularly with those who lost their family members and other loved ones.
