President Halonen in the UK

President of the Republic Tarja Halonen and Dr. Pentti Arajärvi made an official visit to the United Kingdom on 11-13 May 2004. During the first day of the visit President Halonen met Queen Elizabeth, Prime Minister Tony Blair, Foreign Secretary Jack Straw and Defence Secretary Geoffrey Hoon.

She also made a speech at the Royal United Services Institute and visited the Houses of Parliament. The programme of the three-day-visit also included visits to the Finnish Church in London, a Nokia facility in Southwood as well as Hampton Court palace.

From the United Kingdom the President and Dr. Arajärvi continued directly to Denmark to attend the wedding of Crown Prince Frederik and Mary Donaldson on 14 May.
