On 27 January 2020, President of the Republic of Finland Sauli Niinistö attended an event in Poland commemorating the 75th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz.
The commemoration event was attended by Heads of State and Government from more than 20 countries and, as honoured guests, around 200 survivors of the Auschwitz concentration and extermination camp. The event took place in the grounds of Auschwitz II-Birkenau, which now serves as a museum.
