The situation in Belarus after the presidential election on Sunday is worrying. The election was not conducted according to international principles, and the election observers of the OSCE were not invited to follow the election.
It is not acceptable to use violence against peaceful demonstrations. Belarus needs to respect international human rights and citizens’ basic rights, including freedoms of speech and assembly.
