President Niinistö spoke with President Putin

President of the Republic of Finland Sauli Niinistö had a telephone call with President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin on 22 March 2018.

The presidents had a long discussion about international security and strategic stability. President Niinistö expressed Finland’s deep concern about the nerve agent attack that took place in the United Kingdom and noted that Russia’s contribution in bringing clarity to the issue would be essential. During the call, President Niinistö also re-iterated his congratulations to President Putin on his presidential election victory.

The discussion was held on Finland’s initiative.
