
On 21 October 2025, President of the Republic of Finland Alexander Stubb received Tô Lâm, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam, on an official visit to Finland. The General Secretary was accompanied by his spouse Ngô Phương Ly.
During their meeting, the President and the General Secretary discussed bilateral relations, Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine, and other current regional and international issues.
President Stubb emphasised the importance of Vietnam as a business partner for Finland.
“Vietnam is one of our most important business partners in Southeast Asia, and our largest trading partner in the region this year.”
At the end of the visit, three memorandums of understanding were signed between the two countries.
“The strategic partnership we have launched today reflects our desire to continue our close cooperation in this new era,” said President Stubb.
