The outgoing President of the Republic of Estonia, Alar Karis, and his spouse, Sirje Karis, paid a farewell visit to Finland on Thursday 1 October 2026. President Karis’s term in office concludes in October.

President of the Republic of Finland Alexander Stubb and his spouse, Suzanne Innes-Stubb, received President Karis and his spouse at Mäntyniemi, the President’s official residence in Helsinki. During the visit, President Stubb thanked President Karis:
“Finland and Estonia are more than neighbours. We are friends and close allies. President Karis, thank you for the excellent cooperation throughout your term of office and for your contribution to Finland, Estonia and Europe as a whole.”

President Stubb undertook a state visit to Estonia at the beginning of his presidency, accompanied by his spouse, Suzanne Innes-Stubb, in April 2024. President Karis and his spouse, Sirje Karis, paid a state visit to Finland in April 2026.
