President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu paid a working visit to Finland on Friday 2 October 2026. The visit was hosted by President of the Republic of Finland Alexander Stubb.

President Stubb and President Sandu met at the Presidential Palace in Helsinki to discuss bilateral relations between Finland and Moldova, as well as Russia’s illegal war of aggression in Ukraine, the overall security situation in Europe, Moldova’s EU accession process, transatlantic relations, and the international order.


The discussions were also attended by Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen and Moldova’s Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration, Cristina Gherasimov.

In the afternoon, the Presidents took part in the opening session of Helsinki Security Forum, an international security conference organised by the Finnish Institute of International Affairs (FIIA), where they discussed Ukraine’s security and stability after the war.

During her visit to Finland, President Sandu also held talks with Speaker of Parliament Jussi Halla-aho.
