President of the Republic of Moldova Maia Sandu will pay a working visit to Finland on Friday 2 October 2026. The visit will be hosted by President of the Republic of Finland Alexander Stubb.
President Stubb and President Sandu will meet at the Presidential Palace in Helsinki to discuss bilateral relations between Finland and Moldova, as well as Russia’s illegal war of aggression in Ukraine, the overall security situation in Europe, Moldova’s EU accession process, transatlantic relations, and the international order. Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen and Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov will also take part in the discussions.
Later in the day, the Presidents will participate in the opening session of Helsinki Security Forum (HSF), the international security conference of the Finnish Institute of International Affairs (FIIA), where they will discuss security and stability in post-war Ukraine.
During her visit to Finland, President Sandu will also meet with Speaker of the Finnish Parliament Jussi Halla-aho.
The working visit of President of Moldova to Finland, scheduled for spring 2026, was cancelled due to the illness of President Stubb.
