President of the Republic of Poland Karol Nawrocki paid a working visit to Finland on Tuesday 9 September 2025. The visit was hosted by President of the Republic of Finland Alexander Stubb.
President Stubb received President Nawrocki at the Presidential Palace in Helsinki where they discussed strengthening bilateral relations between Finland and Poland, Russia’s illegal war of aggression in Ukraine and other current security policy issues. After the discussions, the presidents held a joint press conference.
Close allies
“Finland and Poland are close allies. The Baltic Sea and our position as countries on the eastern flank of the European Union and NATO unite us. We also share a common security environment in the Baltic Sea area and the same threat assessment,” said President Stubb at a joint press conference.
According to the president, our security environment will remain challenging and difficult to predict, not only in the coming years, but in the coming decades. “Our shared view is that it is important to strengthen NATO’s deterrence and defence against Russia’s long-term threat; a possible peace or ceasefire in Ukraine does not mean we can let our guard down.”
“Cooperation between Finland and Poland is close and we agreed to further strengthen our dialogue,” President Stubb concluded.
