President Stubb attends Munich Security Conference


President of the Republic of Finland Alexander Stubb attended the Munich Security Conference (MSC) on 13 and 14 February 2026.

The key themes of the conference were European security and defence, transatlantic relations, the future of the multilateral system and the impact of technological advances on security. The peace process in Ukraine and the continuation of support for Ukraine were on the agenda at several events and meetings held alongside the conference.

During the conference, President Stubb held bilateral meetings with, among others, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Secretary of State of the United States Marco Rubio, Secretary General of the League of Arab States Ahmed Aboul Gheit, President of Yemen Rashad al-Alimi as well as Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani. In the margins of the meeting, the President also met with U.S. Senators Lindsey Graham, Peter Welch, Jeanne Shaheen and Thom Tillis.

On the main stage of the Security Conference, President Stubb participated in panel discussions on global power relations in world trade and the foundations of transatlantic security.

In addition, the President’s programme included a roundtable discussion on the future information environment, organised by the NATO Strategic Communications Centre of Excellence, and another discussion on European defence.

This year’s conference in Munich was also attended by Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen and Minister of Defence Antti Häkkänen.

The Munich Security Conference is an annual forum for discussion aimed at promoting conflict resolution, international cooperation and dialogue. The conference brings together foreign and security policy decision-makers from around the world.
